But the park's greatest asset could be its generous number of light-equipped sports fields (one for baseball, two for softball and two for soccer) and courts (one for basketball, one for sand volleyball and multiple tennis courts).
Joslyn Park

Missing out on Joslyn Park would be a shame for you -- and for your dog. While it features the requisiteMore children's playground, benches and picnic tables, this 2.5-acre area more or less revolves around the Herb Katz Dog Park. Dedicated to the former mayor and council member who died in early 2009, the large tract finds dogs prancing around, greeting each other with a sniff and thanking their human caretakers for bringing them to Santa Monica. At the top of the hill sits a basketball court to the north and, to the south, a community center that houses an auditorium, a kitchen and craft rooms.

Serving residents of the Mountain View Mobile Inn, as well as the Treffinger EY trailer park, this 3.8-acre spread features a youth-baseball field, a soccer field, a basketball court and—hallelujah—a free parking lot with 32 spaces. There's also a playground and building with restrooms.

Some locals have raised concerns about the park over the years, as the former landfill has resulted in low levels of methane gas being released at the location.

House of Billiards has a league that practices weekly and holds tournaments. At the perimeter of the room, other games are available, including pinball, foosball, darts and a basketball shot game.

This place is also more amenable to birthdays than most of the other 26 parks in Santa Monica. In addition to picnic tables and barbecues, there's also a pavilion specifically intended for birthday shindigs. For parents, Marine Park's biggest appeal could be its free parking lots, which features a whopping 64 spaces.
