E-mail: daniel.hubbard@patch.com
Phone: 973-987-7049 Hometown: Wayne, NJ Birthday: March 30, 1981   Bio  Daniel started out his journalism career working for The Record newspaper as an editorial clerk writing obituaries. He became a staff writer for the Northern Valley Suburbanite newspaper, a weekly publication, in 2004. He became the managing editor of the Fort Lee Suburbanite and Edgewater View, also weeklies, in 2005, and launched a third paper, Leonia Life, soon thereafter. He became editor of these publications in 2007. Daniel returned to school in 2008 and received a second bachelor's degree from Ramapo College. Before coming to Patch, he worked as a freelance Communications Aide for State Assemblywoman Valerie Vanieri Huttle and as a freelance proofreader and copy editor at Haband Company. Most recently, Daniel helped launch the New Jersey editions of Ultimate Athlete Magazine a high school-centric sports publication. He is looking forward to covering his hometown and hopes to educate readers about what is going on in the township on a daily basis. Your Beliefs I promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, I also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, Patch's policy is to encourage editors to reveal our beliefs to the extent we feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for me to inject my beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: I hope that the knowledge that my beliefs are on the record will cause me to be ever mindful to write, report, and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that I have failed in this mission, please let me know. Politics  How would you describe your political beliefs? I believe there are good points regarding several issues to be made by people on either side of the political spectrum. I am pro-life and against the death penalty. To me, how someone views the importance of human life says a lot about that person. Are you registered with a certain party? No. Religion How religious would you consider yourself? I am a devout Christian. Local Hot-Button Issues What do you think are the most important issues facing the community? I think the issue of rising property taxes is important for any community in the North Jersey area. I believe our public school system is one of the best in the state and that having a low student to teacher ratio is important for that success to continue. Maintaining our infrastructure at little or no cost to residents by obtaining government grants is also important. Also, jumpstarting the stalled revitalization of the Wayne Town Center near Willowbrook Mall is important.
